A Gazebo Shaped Sunroom Is a Beautiful Addition to Your Home

One of my big wishes is for a gazebo, or gazebo shaped sunroom as part of my master bedroom layout. I’d love to have such a hideaway with a deck just off of 
the bedroom. Now I can’t decide if I want to put a hot tub in it, or just use it for exercise and recreation. But it would be the most wonderful private retreat (assuming the dear husband doesn’t take it over - hah!)
A gazebo sunroom is simply an enclosed gazebo that may be added as part of your house (similar to a Florida room), or built as a standalone living space. Also known as a solarium or conservatory, these rooms typically have large windows that allow sunlight to stream unimpeded thorough the space, and allow people inside to enjoy outdoor beauty 24/7/365 without the inconvenience of inclement weather or winged pests. Gazebo shaped sunrooms can be used for a family room, a private spa enclosure, a breakfast nook; even a sophisticated kitchen area. (Ah, with pots of fresh herbs and lettuces growing nearby, that kitchen’s an Idea with a capital “I”!) I’m sure you can think of plenty other uses.
Gazebo shaped sunrooms are available in durable aluminum or weather-resistant cedar with screens and/or glass windows. Do make sure if you live in snow-prone areas that the sunroom roof is rated to hold snow loads. You wouldn’t want any nasty cave-ins on your utopia…. A gazebo shaped sunroom, if you’ve placed it where others can access it, is sure to become the most favorite room in the house. I, however, plan to reserve its pleasures all for myself as part of my master bedroom. No matter your choice, you will never regret adding a gazebo shaped sunroom to your home.

Children’s Gazebo Playhouse: Kids Can Enjoy Gazebos, Too

I was roaming on Amazon the other day and this caught my eye - a children’s gazebo playhouse. 
It’s a kid-scale replica of a hexagon gazebo, complete with built in chairs, a drop-leaf table, and a door chime. What a wonderful way to allow children to enjoy their very own gazebo-styled playhouse, and play in cool backyard shade without being underfoot of grown-ups. Amazon also has kid-sized pop-up style gazebo canopies decorated with popular characters like Dora the Explorer. Very, very cool! Where were these when I was a kid?

Gazeboat: A New Trend?

This appealed to my sense of humor… A couple in Minnesota have built themselves a floating gazebo for their lakeside home. It’s reported to be 18′ by 18′, motorized, with a table, deck chairs and a fish finder. A funky cross between a gazebo and a boat; pretty creative…! I think I still prefer my gazebo to be anchored and stationary.
UPDATE 03/13/2008: I found a picture of this floating gazebo. It is quite creative. My hat’s off to the true fisherman and gazebo fan who built it.

FLOATING GAZEBO
“I was going to build the Gazebo on the edge of my dock down by the lake but I thought ….I might just as well build the deck with floats on it
and I can then take it out fishing too. Has 15,000# capacity. The deck is 18ft x 18ft with 12 plastic foam filled dock floats that are 4ft x 4ft by 18 inch. high and the Gazebo is 10 ft. Hexagon with a table and chairs inside.
“Under the table is my trolling motor so I can take it out to my favorite fishing hole. The trolling motor is remote controlled wireless so I can be fishing outside and operate the motor. On the top of the table I have a LOWRANCE Fish-Finder with depth sounding sonar’s and temp gauge. I have 2 electric winches with 40# anchors. I have also built in a water pump so I can clean the fish right on the spot.
“Now I can relax and fish while my wife can sit and relax.”

We haven’t seen any floating gazebo plans yet. If you are construction minded and handy, the description above should give you a few clues of how the floating gazebo is put together… He used a 10′ hexagon (six-sided) gazebo on the deck. You could construct your own from scratch or use a precut hexagon gazebo kit to speed your masterpiece along. Yardiac offers 10′ open sided hexagon gazebo kits with screen options and an all season enclosed gazebo kit with sliding windows and screens.
